At the heart of our methodology is a quantitative approach to analysing public space called Visibility Graph Analysis, for which we have developed a software application called "Fathom". This page outlines some of the features of Fathom, but if you would like more detailed information about pedestrian modelling, please download the white paper on the right. Visibility AnalysisHighly accurate measures of the visual field from any point within a plan are provided by the software. Accessibility AnalysisMany graph theory measures of accessibility are calculated automatically by Fathom, such as the average path length from any observation point to all other points within the plan, or the area size that is accessible within a simple journey. Observation Point Sample DataObservation points are generated and distributed automatically by the application to sample visibility and accessibility within a plan. This ensures the objectivity of the method and comparability of analyses. Integration with CAD and GIS software Fathom supports import and export from common CAD and GIS Applications
to allow analysis of working drawings for buildings or urban designs. |
