The Spinningfields development by Allied London comprises 4.5m sq ft of high quality commercial, civic, residential, retail and open space in the centre of Manchester. Intelligent Space Partnership modelled pedestrian desire lines to advise on the design development of the Foster and Partners Masterplan. The benefits of this project were to advise on the optimisation of public space design and the locations of retail land uses. ISP created a computer-based model of key routes to show how the masterplan will integrate into the surrounding area. Natural surveillance analysis was used to show how retail land uses would support public space activity, and to provide guidance on the landscaping of the primary movement axis.
