Intelligent Space Partnership provided Noosphere with a pedestrian strategy for a 450m pedestrian and cycle bridge to cross Homebush Bay in Sydney. A key issue for the bridge is which design features will best encourage use of such a long structure by pedestrians and cyclists. The pedestrian strategy developed to answer this question included liaison on best practice and a review of current knowledge on the use of pedestrian and cycle bridges.
Key issues include:

• The connection between the bridge and surrounding movement routes
• The shape of the walkway (e.g. straight vs curved) ‘ landing treatments’
• Walkway width and the treatment of spaces on the bridge
