This research project developed a method to analyse and map street crime risk in central London. In a first of its kind study, the project created on-street population estimates using a high resolution pedestrian model. These were linked with street crime data to generate a detailed picture of how the risk of being a victim of street crime differs from the hotspot pattern of crime volume. The project was undertaken in collaboration with the Jill Dando Institute for Crime Science. The preliminary findings were presented by Jake Desyllas of Intelligent Space Partnership and Spencer Chainey of the JDI at the National Crime Mapping Conference. The research was commissioned by Central London Partnership and more information will be available when CLP disseminates the report later this year. |
