Intelligent Space Partnership carried out spatial analysis of the the Wyndham area of Melbourne, providing Key Performance Indices relating to support for pedestrian movement. Computer modelling of visibility and accessibility was used to identify issues such as legibility and accessibility of public transport nodes. The level of 'natural surveillance' was modelled to explore the extent of crime prevention through environmental design afforded by the street configuration. The analyses will be used by the Victoria Department for Sustainability and Environment to inform 'Inquiry by Design' workshops for the urban design teams and to explore specific development options for growth. This is part of the Melbourne 2030 project. |
