Walking corridors in the Clear Zone, Camden

The “Clear Zone” area in Central London has a vast number of attractions within a small and walkable area, yet currently the numbers who choose to walk between destinations are low. ISP are advising Camden Council on strategies to encourage walking in the area.

A strategy for wayfinding has been developed that takes into account key attractors and the walking corridors that link these key attractors together. ISP undertook surveys to provide benchmarks of current movement levels within the Clear Zone. Modelling was used to identify how the layout of the street network supports or hinders wayfinding. The project is being used by Camden to site finger post and slab signs at key decision making points to support walking routes.
