Crowds at the Notting Hill Carnival

Crowds at the Notting Hill Carnival

Following the Public Safety study in 2001, which was awarded the AGI Award for Innovation, the GLA commissioned Intelligent Space to carry out a follow-up study at the Carnival in 2002. This included a flow survey to count visitors entering and leaving the Carnival area, and a CCTV survey of crowd density around the processional route.

The study provided valuable evidence to show how attendance, crowding and pedestrian movement at the event had changed from the 2001 Carnival.
