Elspeth co-founded Intelligent Space in 2000. She directs the healthcare arm and co-directs the transport division of the practice. She has led a range of high profile projects in both the public and private sector, tackling movement and space use issues as diverse as wayfinding and crime prevention in buildings such as schools, offices and shopping centres. She is responsible for the development of Intelligent Space’s innovative work in the functional evaluation of healthcare buildings and is the author of the NHS Estates document identifying how the built environment impacts on patient care in A&E departments. From a background in transport planning, Elspeth has worked extensively on urban transport projects including the influential Shoreditch Triangle project and the modelling of developments such as Regent Street to ensure pedestrian needs are met in the transport equation. Prior to founding Intelligent Space, she worked as a consultant at Space Syntax Limited, as a researcher at University College London in the VR lab and as a researcher for LiDCo, a Medical Technology Company.
